Set of two volumes with brown half-basane binding. Smooth spines with floral motifs, fleurons and triple gilt fillets. Spine with two pieces of black morocco: the first one has the author's name and the title written in gilt, the second one the tomaison. Gilded lace on the plates. Rubbing on all the bindings. All edges marbled. Freckles in the contents. Handwritten ex-libris on the white guard.

Second volume : tear on the page of the forgery.

Re-edition of the work dedicated by the famous 17th century preacher Bossuet to his pupil, the dolphin of France. In this work, the master set himself the goal of perfecting the education of the future monarch by telling him about the Kingdom of France, decadent Antiquity and Charlemagne's holy empire. For him, history is punctuated by the interventions of the Creator, all of which are aimed at the triumph of Christianity.
