This novel was first published in 1774. The book was a considerable success in the years before the Revolution and again in the early 19th century. The Count of Valmont stages a number of stereotypical characters, through which the author depicts, for the purpose of edification, the errors of society outside the faith and his only salvation in the respect of Christian morality.
Very complete from t.6 entitled: "The theory of happiness, or the art of making oneself happy, made available to all men".
Beautiful set.
