"Life of Henri Brulard is an unfinished autobiographical work by Stendhal, pseudonym of Henri Beyle. He talks about his loves, his aspirations, his childhood, his parents, his studies at the Ecole Centrale de Grenoble. It is, next to the Diary and Memories of Egotism, Stendhal's most important autobiographical work. Written in 1835-1836, it was not published until 1890 by Casimir Stryienski. The title alludes to Stendhal's real surname, modified by the rejection of the father's name and a taste for pseudonyms".

New edition established and commented by Henri MARTINEAU.
