Bound in contemporary half tan basane. Smooth spine, with repeated triple gilt fillets, gilt title and author's name on black morocco piece. Joints rubbed. Inner spines damaged. Fine scattered freckles on the pages. Frontispiece in black and white. Good condition of the contents decorated with 5 portraits and 18 black and white engravings.

Copy enriched with an AUTOGRAPHIC SENDER SIGNED by the author: "to Mr. [...] Terry, memory of Acosta, his very affectionate Cesse de Beaulaincourt Marles, née Castellane".

Provided with beautiful illustrations and remarkable family portraits, the author of the present work transmits to us, by evoking the life of her father under the First Empire, a portion of the history of a lineage which does not have to be ashamed of its name.
