Half green calf binding with small bits from the time, smooth back decorated with gilded palettes and cold florets, gilded tomato, author and title, green canvas dishes with cold framed frieze. A few freckles. Little bit and corner fatigue. Volume 1: a frontispiece protected by a snake and 11 out-of-text plates. Volume 2: a frontispiece protected by a snake and 9 plates out of text. The engravings are by COUCHÉ Fils, engraver of the fire cabinet S.A.R. Le Duc de Berry.
Campaign led in April 1823 by France to restore Ferdinand VII of Spain to his throne, driven out by the Liberals. Louis XVIII announced that one hundred thousand Frenchmen were ready to walk, invoking the name of Saint Louis to preserve the Spanish throne to a grandson of Henry IV. The Spanish will call the French army: Los Cien Mil Hijos de San Luis.
