Set of two volumes with period half tan raked basane bindings with corners. Smooth spine, with gilt tomaisons, author's mentions, titles and palettes. Super-libris gilt on each stub. Rubbing on the spines. Slight fatigue of the spines. All edges speckled. Handwritten on the title pages. Stamped bookplates on several pages. Freckles on the pages. Good condition of the contents.
A two-volume work by Charles-William Vane, Marquis Londonderry. Lieutenant-General under the Duke of Wellington, he gives us his version of the course of the Spanish and Portuguese Campaigns. Despite its obvious bias, it is a reference work on this period in the UK.
