LIMITED DRAWING NUMBERED at 600 copies. This one is one of the 400 on vellum paper from the Marais, preface by R. Vallery-Radot, beautiful binding signed BONLEU in full Jansenist blue morocco. Spine with 5 nerves with golden title and author. Large gold castor on the inner fills. Red shimmering silk guards. All edges gilt. Golden fillets on the fields. Very fresh interior. Illustrated with a portrait and thirty compositions by C. DELORT engraved with a chisel and etching by L. BOISSON.
Very beautiful copy, superbly bound by Bonleu.ex-libris Emile Monteaux:"Miss Delaunay, in these letters of a lively, clean, very spiritual style, tried, without it costing her much, to be mocking and mean whenever she could" (R. Vallery-Radot). These memoirs of Miss Delaunay, who spent forty years with the Duchess of Maine, were a great success when they were published in 1755.
