Wide inside edge decorated with gold fillets and dotted dots. Cover and spine preserved. Binding signed CHAMBOULE-DURU.
ORIGINAL EDITION decorated with 40 etchings by François COURBOIN,
limited edition of 300 numbered copies. This one of the 100 copies on Imperial Japan containing 2 additional etchings on Japan: pure etching and etching with black remarks.
These delicate and fresh watercolours bear witness to the life of fashion designers and seamstresses in Paris in 1900: working in the workshop, choosing fabrics, fitting, delivering hats, dancing, eating "Midinettes" in the public garden, walking along the Grand Boulevards, etc.
