In a lined case and under a shirt with nerves on the back in red half-marrow. Solid red morocco binding. Finely ribbed back with golden lily flowers in the cases. Dishes sumptuously decorated with golden arabesques. Double thread on the cuts. Golden inner lace. All slices golden. Blue silk guards. Cover and back kept. Binding signed MERCIER suc. de Cuzin. Illustrated with 13 etchings engraved in colour on location by Adolphe LALAUZE after his original watercolours and those of his son Alphonse: cover and title vignettes, frontispiece, band and lettertrine, 7 out of text including 1 on double page and 1 cul-de-lampe.

ORIGINAL EDITION of this relationship from the Battle of Fontenoy (Antoing, Belgium) which took place on 11 May 1745, as part of the War of the Austrian Succession, and which ended in a French victory led by the Marshal of Saxony. Published under the direction of Paul Reveilhac (1847-1896), art lover and co-founder of "La Société normande du Livre illustré" with the assistance of Albert de Broglie (1821-1901).

LIMITED EDITING to 100 copies on Marais vellum, 25 of which are out of stock. This one bears the number 1 signed by Adolphe and Alphonse Lalauze, including a double state of the engravings: colored with remarks, and in black. It is enriched with an ORIGINAL AQUARELLE by Adolphe LALAUZE.
