A dramatic poet, Paul Ponsard (1814-1867) was the head of the school of common sense, which held the middle ground between the classics and the romantics. His first play Lucrèce, performed in 1843, was a great success and was crowned by the Academy; he gave Charlotte Corday in 1850, L'Honneur et l'Argent in 1853, Le Lion amoureux in 1866. Solid set. Very rare.
