In a lined slipcase. Bound in full caramel morocco, bird's head in black morocco mosaic on the first board, sketch of foliage mosaic in two tones (apple green and orange), two oblique gilt fillets across the board, double cold fillet on the bottom board, gilt arms of Sir Robert ABDY. Spine in apple green and orange morocco, stamped at the foot of the spine (Abdy). Black moiré silk lining, sienna moiré silk endpapers. Covers and spine preserved. Binding signed L. CREUZEVAULT rel.-Ro. Abdy drawing. Tear without missing on title page.

Work composed and arranged by George BARBIER, who illustrated it in colour with 12 plates out of text, 22 lettering, a composition for the false title repeated on the cover, a title vignette, 2 headbands and a cul-de-lampe, all engraved by François-Louis Schmied, who also drew the text and printed the book on his presses.

LIMITED EDITION of 150 copies on vellum, this one not justified. Attached is the original, flying model for the first cover of the binding on paper.

Remarkable contemporary mosaic binding by CREUZEVAULT after Sir Robert ABDY's model, made around 1928-1929.
