Don't expect an adventure novel, let alone a travel memoir: Impressions d'Afrique is a laboratory for literary experimentation.
d'Afrique is a laboratory for literary experimentation, where the story begins in chapter I or chapter X, depending on the reader's choice; every word conceals another, every sentence contains the germ of a novel to come. Edmond Rostand was the first to be fascinated, followed by Marcel Duchamp, Michel Leiris, André Breton, Georges Perec... And yet, this masterly text, in which the excesses of the imagination are matched only by the extreme mastery of the writing, did not even interest publishers, and Roussel had to publish it on his own.
Good condition.
