A TRUE ORIGINAL EDITION of which only a dozen copies have escaped destruction.
This first edition of Gide's novel, printed in a run of 500 copies on Arches laid paper, was sent to the pound because of a layout error: ten pages justified at twenty-four lines instead of twenty-three. These surviving copies have three characteristics: the "achevé d'imprimer" dated May 29, 1911, the ten misjustified pages and the singular word "Édition" on the cover.

Isabelle was the second work published by Editions de la NRF, on May 29, 1911, three days after Claudel's L'Otage. A new edition was published on June 20, 1911.

Superb copy in lined binding by Huser.
