"Five groups of poems: Le poseur de questions, Claire comme le jour, Nocturnes, Bestiaires, En raison des circonstances, make up this collection that Claude Roy modestly entitled Le Poète mineur. It is true that the so-called minor poets have always been the most read, the most sung, the most loved. In the epigraph of his Iivre, Claude Roy was moreover amused to give, according to the little Larousse, the various definitions of the word "minor", thus leaving the choice of which one applies to himself. This one seems to suit him well: like a musician, he has chosen to write in minor. It is thus, indeed, and with great delicacy, a fine tenderness barely tinged with melancholy,
a very supple and sharp sense of rhythm and melody, of the music of verse, that he sings of his love - happy Claire as the day! - his thoughts and the images of his dreams".
