In a leather-lined case. Bound in red-bordeaux half-basane binding with stripes. Smooth spine with fleuron, floral motif, gilt author's note and title. Green threads along the cardboard on the covers. Gilt title and author's note with floral design on the first cover. Very nice binding. Gilt headband. Well-preserved colour cover. Unstripped pages. Contents decorated with lettering, colored culs-de-lampe in colors. In-text coloured etchings made by CHAS-LABORDE. Presence of freckles but mainly concentrated on pages 16 and 17. Work accompanied by a bookmark of multicoloured fabric. Nice copy.

Beautiful reissue of one of the most famous epistolary novels: Les Lettres persanes ou le choc des cultures. The one between East and West, seen through the epistolary relationship between the protagonists. This version has this for her that it nicely illustrated, allowing us to get a better idea of two civilizations very different both in manners and costumes.
