In lined slipcase and small overlapping folder. Bound in full chocolate box with a large openwork egg in two layers in the center of the cover, revealing split leather pieces in different colors. Smooth spine with long title in gilt and white, box lining in the same color with cold break lines running across the entire surface. Gold-yellow box endpapers with a central motif visible through the openwork on the front cover. Covers and spine preserved. Binding signed Monique MATHIEU - 1970.
ORIGINAL EDITION of André Malraux's first book, with 7 woodcuts by Fernand LÉGER. Limited edition of 112 numbered copies. This is one of 90 numbered copies on Hollande Van Gelder, all signed by the author and illustrator.
