Summary: "In June 1906, Marguerite Burnat-Provins, a painter, writer and wife of a Waldensian architect, meets a young engineer, Paul de Kalbermatten, in Savièse (Valais). It's true love. She then wrote Le Livre pour toi, cantique à l'amant donateur de plaisir, which appeared in Paris in 1907 and was republished several times. At the time, these one hundred little prose poems caused a scandal: it was not common for a (married!) woman to sing about her lover's body and the pleasure of love in this way. Today, the Book for you is no longer a scandal. But it remains Marguerite Burnat-Provins' most accomplished work and one of the most beautiful love songs of French literature".
