Collection of the best works in the French language dedicated to lovers of typographic art or careful and correct editions, half-calf blond binding with small corners. Spine with 5 nerves decorated with golden fillets, black title and tomaison pieces. Slightly blunt upper caps. All marbled slices. Interior with freckles.
Besides their religious influence, the Provinciales were a popular literary work. Pascal used humour, mockery and mean satire in his arguments, to allow public use of the letters that would later influence French writers such as Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, and especially Montesquieu in Persian Letters.
Pleasant combination.
