Marius Michel revolutionized the work of bookbinding from the middle of the 19th century. Realizing that bookbinders had always created compositions subject to the leather and not compositions related to the content of the book, he began to develop a repertoire of ornamental style that allowed him to adapt the decoration of the bindings to the subject of the books.
