This work, a perfect example of Art Nouveau, is illustrated on each page with a color composition organized around the text.

Each of the four tales is illustrated by a different artist using a particular technique: 18 original color lithographs by Alexandre Lunois for La Madone, 38 line-engraved and watercolored compositions by Eugène Courboin for L'Antéchrist, 33 compositions by Carlos Schwabe for L'Immortalité, including 10 in black engraved by Auguste Massé and 23 large watercolored floral frames, and a frontispiece and 47 symbolist drawings by Alexandre Séon for La Fin du monde.

The magnificent cover, illustrated on both sides, is signed by Léon Rudnicki.
