In a folder printed with a repeating floral design in orange and grey, with title vignette in the centre. Preserved in its original kraft letter to Rigaud.
Includes a text on perfume written in the form of an exchange of letters between a Frenchman and a young American woman, written by the French author André de Fouquières (1875-1959) and illustrated by 35 drawings in the text by André-Édouard MARTY.
The 9 colour plates by Bernard de Monvel, Carlègle, Paul Méras, André Marty, Georges Barbier and Georges Lepape illustrate nine different perfumes by Rigaud: Prince Igor, Près de vous, Muses de bois, Lilas de Rigaud, L'Heure charmante, Œillet d'Andalousie, Mary Garden, Des roses, Un air embaumé.
The house of Rigaud perfumed the greatest female celebrities of the time, actresses and journalists. The perfumes often take the names of Belle Époque celebrities or pay tribute to them. The singer Mary Garden, who was very popular in the United States, gave her name to the eponymous perfume "Mary Garden".
Very good condition.
